Preliminary Assessment of Cooling Water Chemistry for Fusion Power Plants

The determination of the water chemistry for cooling systems nuclear fusion plants is under debate. It should be tailored different types reactors: either experimental, e.g., ITER, JT-60SA, and DTT, or aimed at power generation, DEMO, given operation requirements. This paper presents dual approach involving experiments computer simulations chosen definition DEMO chemistry. Experimental work was performed to assess corrosion susceptibility reduced activation ferritic martensitic EUROFER 97 AISI 316L in regimes. At same time, low corrosivity requirement brings an additional safety aspect radiation protection since some neutron-activated products (ACPs) create a gamma when deposited outside plasma chamber components accessible operators these must minimized. To evaluate ACP inventory assessments were carried out using reference code. Preliminary experimental activities define DTT construction ENEA also conducted. comparison code results with two-fold important: validation models determine data that are necessary perform calculations.
